Project: Retail Worker Housing Needs Survey

Location: Garden Grove, CA

Size: Approximately 26.5 acres

Story: Site is currently a partially vacant retail center within a designated redevelopment area of the city.  We were asked by ULI to assist the city in understanding the demographics and housing needs of the constituent population.  As part of our work, we surveyed the retail workers throughout the subject property as well as nearby retail centers.

Results: Just some of the things we learned for the city were commuting patterns, household size, bedroom requirements, parking requirements, income levels, and, perhaps most importantly, interest in possible future housing at the site.  The information will help guide future city policy so the community realizes the maximum benefit.
